As a brand, Grand Seiko doesn’t exactly skimp on annual new releases. Of course, many of the latest watches are dial variants, so we take extra notice when a completely new model debuts. Rare Bird: Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica à Grand Sonnerie
Jaeger-LeCoutlre is better known as the ‘Watchmaker of Watchmakers’ and
we’ve seen some impressive timepieces from them in the past including the
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster
Perpétuel we perused in 2019. The JLC Hybris Mechanica à Grand Sonnerie was
first presented in 2009 in a limited edition of 30 pieces. Combining a
striking mechanism with a Westminster chime, a flying tourbillon, and a
retrograde perpetual calendar, this watch is a feat of horology of the
highest order. Honored to be able to bring you these images and our
thoughts on it.

The ref. 5236P, unveiled by Patek Philippe in 2021, is a veritable time capsule inspired by the linear perpetual calendar pocket watches of the 1950s and 1960s.
